Sammy the Hedgehog : a Warm Fuzzies original pattern
Sammy’s a mischievous little hedgehog specially designed to accompany Rebecca Velasquez’s
“Shroom” pattern, available at http://www.crochetme.com/shroom. *Note: Sammy is
worked in the back loops only of a round, in one continuous spiral; do not join the rounds
unless specifically instructed to do so.
Materials
• small portion of sport weight beige yarn (e.g., Red Heart LusterSheen Yarn in natural)
• dark brown six-strand embroidery floss
• 2 black “E” beads for eyes
• 1 6 mm round black bead
• wool or fiberfill stuffing

Body
R1: Using beige yarn, make a magic adjustable ring, and sc 5 times into the loop. Pull end to
tighten loop. (Note: instructions for this technique are available on the internet at the
following website – http://www.crochetme.com/Dec_Jan_0405/reads_round.html).
R2: 2 sc in each sc around (10 sts)
R3: Work *2 sc in next sc, 1 sc in next sc* around (15 sts)
R4: Work *2 sc in next sc, 1 sc in each of next 2 sc* around (20 sts)
R5-6: sc in each sc around (20 sts)
R7: Work *2 sc in next sc, 1 sc in each of next 10 sc* around (22 sts)
R8-9: sc in each sc around (22 sts)
R10: sc 2 tog, 1 sc in each of next 2 sc, sc 2 tog, 1 sc in each of next 3 sc, sc 2 tog, 1 sc in
each of next 3 sc, sc 2 tog, 1 sc in next 2 sc, sc 2 tog, 1 sc in next 2 sc (17 sts). Stuff the
body firmly with fiberfill, and continue stuffing as you go.
R11: Work *sc 2 tog, 1 sc in each of next 2
sc* around, 1 sc in last sc (13 sts)
R12-13: sc in each sc around (13 sts)
R14: sc 2 tog around, 1 sc in last sc (7 sts)
R15: sc 2 tog around, 1 sc in last sc (4 sts)
R16: sc 2 tog around (2 sts). Fasten off
and weave in yarn end.
Ear (make 2, crochet through both loops)
R1: ch 2, 2 sc in second ch from hook, turn (2 sts)
